Dementia Care

Increasingly the need to move into long term care is occasioned by the onset or progression of dementia and the eventual need for 24 hour care and supervision.  

All our staff (care, catering and housekeeping) are selected for their desire to work with the elderly and are trained in dementia awareness.  Additionally our care team receive training in the different types of dementia and in appropriate communication skills.  

As knowledge and understanding of dementia has increased and training become more available, we at Courtlands have taken advantage of projects by the Local Authority and the PCT to promote learning throughout our organization and to inform and improve practice to create a more favourable environment for dementia sufferers.
