Living Our Values Every Day

Meet the Team

Mark Fairhurst I’m Mark Fairhurst and with my wife Gillian we have been running Courtlands for 20 years.  We come originally from Dorset and I spent the first 30 years of my career based in Wiltshire working for a large organization, initially in dairy food production and then as the Director responsible for baby food manufacture. At Courtlands my main responsibility is the financial side of running things and the upkeep of the Home.  I enjoy gardening, walking the dogs and the Cornish countryside.
Gill Fairhirst Hello, I’m Gill, wife to Mark and Partner responsible for HR and Training. It’s also my responsibility to keep the website up to date so a bit of pressure there… Initially trained as a linguist I worked for Wiltshire County Council in personnel and administration before leaving to start a family. The biggest challenge faced? The discovery of mundic block at Courtlands! The greatest satisfaction? Our finished rebuild and building a great team to work with us. Favourite pastimes? Time spent with family and friends and walking with our two Labradors.
Janet I’m Janet Lewis, Registered Manager at Courtlands, and I’m a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over 30 years of clinical and management experience in health and social care. I am married to Nick we have two teenage boys and a very lively dog. We live in the Penzance area and spend some of our leisure time walking and enjoying the stunning Cornish landscapes. My hobbies include gardening, cooking and listening to live music.

Hi, my name is Jan Gould and I’m the Assistant Manager at Courtlands.  I have been caring for 27 years in Nursing or Residential Homes in Norfolk, Somerset and Cornwall. Over the years I have gained a number of qualifications: the two that have given me the most satisfaction are Palliative Care level 3 and NVQ level 4 in Health & Social Care.  I am also a qualified trainer and conduct in-house training for staff.  Outside work I enjoy walking the coast path and touring in our caravan, together with my granddaughter who joins us for weekends when her Mum is at work.

Cally Hello, I’m Cally Pawley, Care Manager for Day Care and Activities.  I have enjoyed working in the care sector for the past 11 years.  My husband and I returned to Penzance last year to be close to family. I enjoy travelling and live music.

Jon Hi, I'm Jon Gibbons, a longstanding member of the Courtlands Management Team. I have worked in many care settings including nursing and learning disabilities. I have gained different qualifications over the years but I particularly enjoyed achieving my ILM Level 4 and Moving & Handling Trainers Award. Outside work myself and my fiance are kept busy by our son, Olly, and greyhound, Jet.
Hi, I'm Terry Magraw.  After a lifetime in the public house trade, where I learned and developed my cooking skills, I joined the team here at Courtlands where my passion for nutritious, home cooked, real food means I can promote a sense of wellbeing.  I am lucky to be learning about care, which gives me knowledge and understanding of our residents' needs.
